Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - Wastewater treatment in the Bottrop sewage treatment plant, The first purification stage of a sewage treatment plant comprises mechanical purification (removal of coarse solids, sand, grease), the second stage the biological process (removal of nutrients by means of microorganisms), the third stage is known as chemical-physical treatment (phosphate precipitation). In future, a fourth treatment stage will be necessary to remove trace substances, microplastics and medicines. The Emscher sewage treatment plant in Bottrop is one of the most impressive structures on the Emscher. With a height of 54 metres and a total volume of 54, 000 cubic metres, the four digestion towers are the largest of their kind. The clarifiers have a total surface area of 58, 000 square metres and purify 8, 500 litres of water per second. Covering a total area of 147, 000 square metres, the wastewater treatment process produces 190, 000 tonnes of sewage sludge every year, which is reused to generate energy for the plant. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
