Framed Print of The first Tetra Pak carton - a tetrahedron patented by Ruben Rausing and invented by Erik Wallenberg (pictured)
The first Tetra Pak carton - a tetrahedron patented by Ruben Rausing and invented by Erik Wallenberg (pictured) - was launched in Sweden in 1951. Erik Magnusson, a technician at Akerlund and Rausing, made the crucial breakthrough in 1952. He discovered that a tetrahedron package could be continuously formed, filled, and sealed from a single roll of paper by folding the material in an alternating pattern along the tube and sealing it transversely at 90-degree angles. This simple yet ingenious folding principle enabled high-speed production and became the foundation of the original Tetra Classic system. 1951 Kristoffersson ref BB100-7
